projector screen

I was considering a TV upgrade for next year but have turned my attentions to a projector instead, so im gettying the ball rolling now withe the possibility of pickng up an early 2009 bargain.

can anyone recommend a decent free standing screen that i can pack away when not in use? and also a decent HD projector. Budget i reckon will be around 2.5k.

I found the Draper Road Warrior a great pull-up portable screen before I went fixed - just don't put it (or any) portable screen too near either open doors/windows or full-on radiators (because drafts can ripple the screen).

Add an InFocus IN80 and you're away

As an alternative you could try the screens from Beamax and for the projector the Panasonic PTAE3000 or Sony VPL-HW10.

Just on the pull up option, i need to be able to keep my centre speaker where it is, ie underneath the telly so i guess i would need one that wouldnt effect this (ie pull up and across the centre speaker).

or would the centre speaker be ok to be situated behind the screen?

Several designs of projector screen allow for speakers behind them - 'acoustically transparent' models are the ones to look out for

i have a pulldown screen that hangs from the roof via 2 hooks that are barely noticable when the screens taken down.

Thats not realy a consideration for me as i am in rented accom. and i also have very high ceilings. That would be my ideal solution but it just not possible, which is a shame.

I am struglling to find a pull up, acoustically transparent screen at this moment in time.
