If it is any consolation the Rondo red is a high output moving coil and would probably have worked just fine with your phono stage. 🙂

The Rondo Red is indeed low output at 0.5mV

Nope, first on will be Joe Cocker's Sheffield Steel followed by Al Green's Greatest Hits, my two reference LP's if you like.
