Hi,

planning to upgrade my combo of Marantz+Mordaunt Short and I found some Primare stuff and Sonus Faber Domus Concerto on clearance.

How would they match? I listen mainly to jazz.

The problem is that I have NO chance to listen them, as I live abroad and far away from GB.

Thanx a lot!

Edwin

Thank you JohnDuncan.

May I ask you why? Or, let me put it this way: where I live I have no chance of buying Primare/Sonus ex-demo, so I cannot approach them for the price they are asking for brand new items. This is why I consider them even without listening prior to aquisition. I know it is very important but...

Can you please help with describing the type of sound they should produce together?

Many thanks,

Edwin

Superb if it's the I30 amp. The I21 might struggle to do these speakers justice.

Yes, it is about the I30 amp.

I kind of hesitate between this and the Sugden A21. Does it make a huge difference because is a class A amp?

The SF Concerto Domus are beautiful speakers, very smooth and not bright or hard. They have a reasonable senstivity of 88dB and can handle between 30-200W. I once heard them with a Unison Research S2 valve amp (SET with less than 10W class A power) and they sounded very real if perhaps lacking any bass. I put this down to not enough power!

The I30 is probably good foil for them as it would provide a lot of headroom to turn them up and listen at higher levels. The Sugden A21 amp is less than 30W so I'm not sure whether you'd be in danger of damaging the drive units.

Question is: How much would you loose if you had to sell them again? If that is acceptable go for it, you may end up very happy.

I am very satisfied with my amp that I bought without listening. Speakers, I would check if your room & size, placement of speakers, and type of speakers (ports) might be problematic combination.

I know that selling second hand hi-fi is a guarantee of losing big time. I have to sale my Marantz CD5003+PM7003+Moradunt Short Mezzo6+Oelbach before any new aquisition and I don't expect to cash in big money.

However, I found on clearance some ex-demo Primare and Sonus Faber that are helping to reduce lost when reselling.

Question: this clearance at hi-fi retailers is all year round in GB? Or it comes at specific time of the year?
