Cost me £700 total. Budget for speakers would probably be up to £1.4k ... but would consider across the price range!

It's 45 watts per should be able to drive just about any reasonably efficient speaker. Go audition whatever you can.

What is your room size and preference (floorstanders?), got to be new? How far, realistically, can you place them away from rear wall?

i.e. not nearly enough info supplied to make a valid suggestion as, to my mind, the speakers have to suit the room not the amp. 🙂

However, assuming you have a reasonable sized room I might suggest anytrhing from Zu Audio or a second-hand pair of WLM La Scala floorstanders.
