poor quality picture on Sky+HD

Ok, would you say it was better than having the Sky box set to 1080i though? It was on mine.

I might try adding a scart connection and see if SD is any better for that, but I'm not sure I've got a decent SCART cable anywhere these days.

I still reckon I get the best SD picture from my HD+ box from SCART. When you output SD through HDMI it sends an interlaced picture through a progressive signal - and it just ends up a mess. At least through SCART it is sending an interlaced pciture that the TV can then use its box of tricks on to de-interlace and clean up - and probably end up with an SD picture similar to what you had from your SD box previously.

Just get to used to a lot of input swapping on your TV!
