hi just got the sony 46 hx903 please could you give me your settings for the way you set picture up. many thanks dean

All TV are different so using someone elses setting is not a good idea, find a DVD with THX optimode, Starwars DVD's and Finding Nemo have it. Then run through the guided setup.

yes i know. but would still like the settings from what hifi team. if thats ok with you

Thats a bit rude just trying to help......

I'm afraid I'm not in the office today Dean and I haven't got the settings to hand, so I'll have to check with the test team on Monday. In the meantime, you might want to watch our 'How to get the best from your TV' video in the 'How To' section of our video channel. Clicky

Duck is right.

Someone else's settings won't work on your TV, that's why professional calibrators charge a large amount for their services and have to undergo a lot of training. You will most likely end up with a worse picture than you started with using settings from another set. WHF are highly unlikely to tell you their settings for that reason as much as any other.

And what if you don't like the settings from the WHF team, you will be back to square one. Each persons settings are not the same. What the WHF team might like could be a million miles away from what you like. Still think the other persons help was the way to go at first.

Your living room will be different to the WHF test rooms, different lighting levels for example. The room size, colour, decour and lighting level will have an effect on the settings, WHF test rooms might be softly lit and need less brightness/contrast than if the tv was in a brightly lit living room for example. What worked best in WHF towers might be miles of the calibrated settings you end up using if you set it up with a test disc like the THX optimiser.

The WHF settings might be handy for reference but you might find your own calibrated settings will work better in your own room.

I was in the same boat and wanted test setting as well and when I got them they were lifeless and dull.

So spent 2 hours with about 4 blu-ray discs pausing certain sections with colour (do not use cartoons) and finally got a great pic.

I used some black hawk down, and some district 9 and an older movie, terminator 2, now I am very happy and it looks good to me. and thats all that count cause I be the one watchin

Canada is right, just use what you have to test it and then when you find something you're happy with then relax and enjoy. Your eyes as well as your room characteristics will be unique.
