Got greasy finger print on plasma screen tried to wash it of with warm damp cloth, now depending on the light ican sometimes see a 3" circle which looks slightly lighter than rest of screen is there a protective layer which my cleaning has removed? Is there any way of resolving this. Do i wipe the whole screen to even it up or just live with it as i only notice it sometimes?

Plasma screen is glass. The cleaned bit just shows how dirty the screen is. Give it a wipe. Also you should use a microfibre cloth

I did the same thing with my 4 year old panasonic plasma.I tried cleaning finger print marks off but ended up rubbing what must be an anti reflective coating off.It left a light brown patch and couldn't find a way to rectify it.I hope you haven't done the same as i ended up buying a new screen as it drove me mad.I'm now paranoid about cleaning it.

Its the panasonic TH-37px70b manual says soft dry cloth which is what i tried first, then for major contamination soft damp cloth using water and neutral detergent diluted by 100 times water. Grease gone but lighter patch remains, only notice it sometimes when screen is on but can always see it when screen is off.

Yes, as has been mentioned, these screens have an anti-reflective coating which your cleaning has removed.

Does your mark have a brown colour like that one mencioned above by the other user? I would try to give the same treatment to the rest of the screen.at least you'd get uniformity. But if the spot is browner...that would be very odd.

It makes sense that ive taken off the reflective coating, and as i say i only notice it now and again it depends on the lighting, so think i will leave it alone, i really dont want, as you suggest an expensive mirror!

MAkes me wonder if it's worse than the samsung a656 mirror screen...WHY can't they make simple stuff nowadays? Sometimes I hate tech...

Ye totally agree, if you have kids do not buy plasma and never touch the screen for any reason. Is that the only way to preserve these screens?

Ive got the same TV and I use Tesco Glass Cleaner! Childern+Jammy Dogers = need something stronger than mild soapy water.

Guess I shouldn't be using it. First time I cleaned it, it did look streaky, but not now. Didn't realise this TV had a coating on the screen, mines probably not there anymore.

I guess it wont be so bad...any regular crt tv is glass screen and I always clean it with a damp cloth.Any plasma is glass screen also, and I always see a lot of glare even in the showrooms...guess it can't go much worse than the glare i see.

i have used washing up liquid sparingly with luke warm water ,,with excellent results but do make sure the screen is cold before

cleaning-- ---i have not seen any damage to my screen but i keep an eye for any damage every time i clean tv, as needed often as i have five grand kids and my tv is stand mounted 50" plasma i get lots of little sticky finger marks on it and my moaning does no good..
