Getting my KRP-500a delivered next weekend and it's going to be placed in front of a window (haven't got much choice in the matter, it's windows all the way round...), however in the afternoons the sun will shine straight onto the back of the screen. Looking in the manual is specifically states not to do this but how much of a problem is it going to be?

Like I said I don't have much choice in the matter, it's either in front of window with sunlight on it in the morning, or in front of this window with sunlight on it in the late afternoon, or on the side wall of the room with sunlight on it for most of the day (and in an awkward position for viewing, so I'm not interested in that position anyway).

I guess I'll just have to shut the curtains but is it going to damage the screen if the sun's shining on the back of it when I'm out (the screen will be off)?

I have my Plaz set up infront of a south facing bay window so it has direct sunlight directly onto its rear and never had any problems and don't honestly see why you should.

This is how I have mine

Cool, do you always have the curtains shut?

How do the KEFs sound for AV incidentally? The dealer I bought the KRP from has some iQ9s in the demo room, I was thinking of tapping him up to get them cheap! Do you have a sub with them?

You could get technical and just build a sunlight reflect sheet behind the TV unit - obviously allowing enough space for adequate cooling - and not to ruin your looks by making the sunlight reflector visible from most angles.

I did something strange to make my Musical Fidelity KW 750 fit on a normal Atacama rack - always has to be done IMO to get your kit looking its best

Just a strange idea

Nope only shut the curtains at night otherwise open all the time including when watching during the day.

As for the KEF's I love the sound they produce for AV (very good with music as well

) They deliver a clear and dynamic sound that can also handle bass with authroity. One thing I perticually liked with the iQ's was they do not need to be placed far away from walls to operate well which is important is space is limited.

I found mine to opperate best slightly toe-in.

Oh not using a Sub as I find the iQ9's go quite low and put the LFE through them.

Obviously they can't proform as well as a dedicated sub but don't currently have the spare $$$$ for a decent sub

That's fine, I'm not sure I'll get away with a sub, unless I can hide it, which is unlikely, the missus doesn't like massive volumes anyway, so hopefully floorstanders will be enough (I've got standmounters at the moment and she's already complaining about those!). My room's a big bigger than yours though, so they might struggle.

She worries about the neighbours as well, even though these are the same neighbours that kennel their dogs outside our bedroom window and keep us awake all night, barking. The dogs I mean, not the neighbours...
