I would not touch the Samsung, i know someone who bought it at Xmas and wants rid of it already due to motion handling.

42PX80 is a much better choice (£699) or the 42PZ80 which is the Full HD version just about to be released - going to be between £850 - £920 initially.

At your viewing distance you could even go for the 37PX80 for around £615.00

I am looking at getting the PX80 or the new HD Ready LG - 42PG6000 (£718.94 xomy.com).

Cheers,

JSM

the guy at the shop obviously wants you to buy the samsung as its discontinued now... but go for the PX80 and you wont be disappointed at all :) try and find a deal with the Panasonic Blu Ray- DMPBD30 ( i think thats the model) as it won the recent Blu Ray test ^_^

Definitely the Panasonic over the Samsung. The Samsung doesn't come anywhere near the Panasonic for overall picture quality.

At your viewing distance 1080p has no value unless you're buying a set over 50". The Panasonic is much better for both HD and SD images. The Samsung really struggles with SD.

well jsm15 got it out of the box and set up in 20min very easy to do auto set up did it all .havent had a really good play with it yet but but as for picture spot on very sharp not like it was at the shop . the guy said the bad picture was because all the tvs in the shop were through the same ariel .so very happy with it cant wait to get a blu ray player for it . i got it from a local panasonic shop and they wanted £999 for it but got it down to £800 with a wall bracket . have seen it on the net for £700 but then £79 for a bracket so think i got a good deal and the shop is only 2min away if anything goes wrong . also asked about the 5 year warranty that i had seen someone post on here but they said at the shop that offer finished at xmas and its only a one year warranty that is available.hope this helps. lord

Thanks for the info.

Yeah i saw the tv in Comet couple of weeks ago and thought the picture was poor compared to the LZD80 and even the PX70 (they were showing a Panasonic promo disc so i figured it was less to do with a poor ariel etc) and had decided against the tv despite the great reviews, however i went into another Comet and the set was showing Corrie and it had a cracking picture so it does very much depend on the source etc in those kind of places!

Keep me updated on it's performance as i am thinking of getting one this week - waiting on a £610 JL price match (to get the 5yr g'tee) but otherwise i will buy from an online merchant at the same price, who offer a 30day no quibble moneyback g'tee. Still tempted by the new LG though lol.
