I am still doing research on buying my first home cinema system. at the mo I have been steered towards the yamaha z7 but would like some more opions. I will probably use it for 70% home cinema and 30% music. I want the best quality sounding system that can pick up every little detail at a low volumn as I think a lot of systems sound good when turned up loud. (got to think of the neighbours) I think I should be looking at getting the av/amp first correct me if I am wrong as i new to this.

First of all is the yamaha z7 and the pioneer lx82, or is there any other av in this range that you might think is better?

Second is if I was to step up the budget then my options would be the yamaha z11 or the pioneer lx90 and again feel free to sugest any other otions in this range that u might think better

Also do any of the av/amp do a wireless internet connection if not could you use a wireless dongle with it?

Not meaning any disrespect but you need to revisit your many previous posts regarding this question , as it is not the first time you have asked regarding Z11 , Z7 M&K speakers etc.etc etc

I realise that it is a minefield and you want to make the right choice , but only you can decide as to how high end a system you are aiming for

Pioneer LX sc-lx82 , Yamaha Z11 , B&W mt30 or kef 3005 speakers ,M&K packages as per your other posts are opposite ends of the scale

You need to also have a budget in mind

Dont know if the clue here is in your username , but you risk alienating yourself IMHO

I am just trying to get as many opions as possible as I have never bought a home cinema system before as I am new to all of this, I did not have a clue before i came on here, on the systems and the prices. I am learning more and more from these forums, so I am sorry if I keep asking the same sort of questions but this is just because when spending a large amount of money I want to try and get the right system as it is very hard to try and compare when listening to different systems in different shops. I know i need to try and find somewhere I can listen to them side by side so hopefully I might be able to do this at the bristol sound and vision show. The system I buy I do not want to change for many years to come. The other thing is when going into shops they will only recommend what they have got. In some shops they told me the bose system was the best. which i have learnt on here they are not. The more I ask the more I learn, Before I came on here I had never heard of m&k speakers and still not seen any shops that sell them locally.

In my first post I did ask about buying a top of the range system, but then found out how much top end could be. After doing a lot of searching I have found can get a z11 for £3800 which if it is that much better then I might just be able to strech to if there is that much difference in preformance, but got to try and weigh up the price to quality

I bet you are the type of person that sounds his horn when behind a learner driver, everyone has to start somewhere

To answer your question without consideration to budget and your speaker choice I would say the 82 beats the Z7 - just - and I would say that the LX90 beats the Z11 by a tiny fraction.

The thing about these products is that it depends entirely on the rest of your set up and your room as to which will perform the best. We sell both amp pairings almost equally as it depends on the client's requirements which we specify. From there it then depends on if that sound gel's with them.

You will not regret buying any of the amps you mention. There is a large step up to the top level models in performance and an equal spend on speaker will give you an excellent sound that will make every movie a joy to watch.

The best advicve really is to get to a dealer and listen as you are the one spending the money. I along with the other members can advise you on what our experience tells us works for us but there is no assurance it will work for you.

A good dealer will be able to let you hear the different sounds and tailor a system for you and your budget. If you dont have one nearby then investing the time and money to travel will be worth it. You can get across the whole country for not much time or money.

Would I be right in saying the first thing to buy would be the av/amp? as I am starting from scratch.

I am just trying to get an ideal of what I want to listen to before I go to the dealers as I went to a dealer close to me, quite a big shop and they do advitise on whf (I wont name them) but the sales assistant didnt seem to have a clue on what he was selling

Hi jokerpaulonline

Given the amps that you are looking at, purchasing the AV amp first and than building around it will be fine.

Btw, i prefer the DSP-Z7 and DSP-Z11 over the SC-LX82 and SC-LX90 respectively.

Thanks

If you are buying in stages I would still suggest listening to a complete package and deciding on the system as a whole.

If the dealer you were talking to doesnt have a clue leave them alone and move on to the next guy. If there is no service pre-sale I wouldnt imagine there will be much post-sale.

Made me chuckle "I bet you are the type of person that sounds his horn when behind a learner driver, everyone has to start somewhere"

would wait if i was you untill you have been to the show, might give you an idear into manufacture that will suit the sound you are after.

then visit some dealers (if you are looking at spending that kind of money than perhaps take a day of work mid week and arrange to visit a specailist dealer and spend the morning listerning to different combinations. if you have to travel than so be it).

what dealers do you have in your area?. what area of the country are you in.
