Pioneer N-50A vs Yamaha RN-500 - DAC quality

Hi Guys my external DAC SuperPro 707 DAC USB is definetely OUT. I want to buy a network Player with a good interal DAC (better then superpro) i will connect this player to: - ROTEL RA-10 Amplifier - B&W 686 S2 speakers My two choices: Pioneer N50A or Yamaha RN-500 which is the best? other suggestions? very important the DAC quality (i will connect by coax my cd player) thanks

Hi If comparing just DAC quality both play FLAC/Highest quality. Both look good to me.

However, the Pioneer is just a streamer so you need your amp. Yamaha is an amp as well and a powerfull one at that, double what your Rotel has. Guess you can sell your Rotel and subsidize the Yamaha. I like the Yamaha, like all the options it has on the back including sub out and its one box less although I imagine that probably makes little difference to you. I have been looking at it myself , but unlike you I need an amp as well to drive some big speakers so fits my needs better. I think both will work admirably.

Perhaps you should go and listen to a Yamaha , then decide.

Have you considered the Marantz NA6005 Network Streamer?

It's fairly new and doesn't seem to have a ton of reviews as yet, but the specs look good and the accompanying Amp and CD player seem top grade for their respective price categories with excellent reviews on this very website.
