PIONEER LX01 system OR A Onkyo TX SR606 with Q Acoustics 5.1 speakers

I am just about to purchase a new system and was just seeking your opinions before selecting. I will be using this system for movies and also play Ipod music etc and a lot of Virgin + music on demand.

Pound for Pound which set up will offer the best performance etc.????

Go for the 606 and speakers cant go wrong!

I have the onkyo 606 and Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 speaker package. It is very good with movies, but I was not happy with the stereo playback.

Upgrading to Q Acoustics 1030i floor standers has made a big improvement to stereo AND movies.

Please look at the folowing sites to do that upgrade when purchasing the whole system, rather than doing what I did, and buying the 1010i 5.1 system, to then buy the 1030i, thus leaving me with a spare pair of 1010i's!! And if you do it this way, you can bi amp the front speakers, which again improves the sound

Pete, you got me thinking re speakers. I am slightly concerned the Q Acoustics 5.1 speakers may not be powerful enough. I may stuggle to stretch to the to then buy the 1030i, With this in mind I have seen these (below), has anyone experience of these

I can not say i have personally heard either set up but the LX 01 has a lot going for it. I can tell you pioneer don't make premium products rubbish. I do own pioneer products tv , amp , dvd had a hifi system once , never been disappointed. Don't forget the LX01 is also HDD 250g just right for recording virgin music. The LX01 is available for just under £900. To me the onkyo + q or mission combination would have to be at least twice as good as the LX01 for me to even consider it a serious choice the onkyo /q or mission is no looker is it ?. I have had mission speakers in the past (floorstander 75 somethings and bookshelf for rears) and they were good but i didn't miss them when they went. I also know a mate at work who hadn't had a proper sound system and he went for the pioneer rcs-lx60d last year he loves it and is really happy with it. The choice is yours if it were me i would be more inclined to go with the lx01.

Hi Razzler,

I auditioned the Mission M33i's in the past (front speakers in that system), and they were very good. Don't forget the Q Acoustics company have a guy that used to work for Mission, and if you look at the spec of the latest Q Acoustics speakers, they are very similar to the M series of Mission speakers - hmmmmm

Q Acoustics is like the Seat/Skoda of the Volkswagon group, I guess!!!

Saiding that, the Missions would be a good option, and then add a sub later on......
