Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to read this post - I'm in need of some sound advice!

My question is probably a really basic one to you experts but in order to ask it I will firstly need to explain my setup. I have a pioneer LX 73 amp and tv connected to one of the amp's HDMI out sockets. I also have a V+ cable box connected using a hdmi in socket, and a sound mixer which connects to the amp by way of a coaxial in.

What I'd like to do is play out sound through the amp using the mixer, but also watch the tv (without sound). Is there any possible way to do this? As soon as I switch from the amp's tv output to the amp's mixer output the tv screen obviously goes blank and then music from the mixer played, until I re-select the tv output whereby I no longer hear sounds from the mixer out but my tv picture returns...

The v+ cable box only has one hdmi and as said I route this to the amp. The box does have an optical out etc which in theory I could connect to the tv and bypass the amp, but I'm trying my very very best to avoid running any further wires directly to the tv (which is on the wall and I've already buried the existing wires to the point where I can't hide any more...).

Anyway thanks again for reading, and for any help and advice.

Hi Rich

I have been meaning to set this up on my amp too so i can play the 360 while listening to either a cd on my blu ray player or with my macbook plugged in to my amp.

The places i am going to investigate are the input settup in the home menu on the amp. By assigning a different digital audio input on the amp to the xboxs component input. That is the 1st thing to try.

The other thing i was going to try was the "signal sel" button on the remote by assigning a different audio input to the hdmi input i am using for the 360.

Never got round to it though.....

Let me know how you get on.

Big thanks for your response John. I'll try your ideas over the weekend when I'm next with the equipment and will let you know how I get on.

I'd not considered either approach but they certainly sound like excellent suggestions. Much appreciated!

John,

Your knowledge is absolutely spot on! I have managed it with a combination of the two things you suggested!

Thank you so much for your advice, this has given me a great deal of satisfaction :0)
