I Think Pioneer took Plasma as far as it could go... the 9th gen wasn't the b all and end all of Pioneers plasma development but unfortunately they couldn't make any money on them ( i hope Panasonic don't end up the same way) even though they were the best. Panasonic now have the pioneer legacy and are starting to show fruits but it's never going to be that much better than the Kuro it virtually is a kuro incarnation. Unless you want 3D or "smart" no point in changing a Kuro. I think i will be down to newer tech like OLED or Ultra HD etc to surpass Kuro PQ unless plasma or lcd come up with a new development.

When it come down to it and you have to replace a Kuro it does't matter what you get if it a good picture it's a good picture it just a shame that alot of the manufacturers don't give the PQ the highest priority.

Pioneer was in the process of developing the 10th generation Kuro, code named "Fuga" with interesting advances over the 9th generation, until it decided to pull out of the TV market.

hi all,did the software update sort your tv out bb/what changes did you see.does anybody know what an ipc board is on a tv,after having the software update was done on your tv big boss have you had anymore problems with your krp.i really dont whats the best thing to do when things start go wrong,it always leads to something else, what do you guys think is it better to scrap the tv or live in hope that it can be repaired.

The update was a part of the repair they did. They changed my drive board & updated its software which solved the problem.

Details of my problem & what they did is on this thread:

hi all, just an update on my lx508d,still waiting to find out if my tv is going to be scraped or fixed,on that note i have been looking for a replacement ,i went to my local dealers and saw the panasonic vt50-65 inch set ,if im really honest i really dont think they have better picture than the kuros, maybe its my eye sight,i am getting on in age lol,i think change to a panasonic vt range would be a side step rather than an upgrade, shaw they have the 3d and internet on them which i dont think i would use,but picture to picture in my eyes the kuro is still king, not wishing to start a tv war ,but what do you guys think?.

I have a LX508D, and if you look earlier in this thread, I succombed to a Pana GT50 when I saw a customer return in John Lewis going cheaply with a 5 year warranty.

So I've seen both tvs close up, with the same feeds and cables, and as I said earlier in the thread, the GT had better blacks than my LX, quite noticeably better, and the picture was just as sharp, if not sharper.

So if you do have to get a replacement for your Kuro, be assured that the GT and VT will be up to the job.
