Sorreltiger:Sorry, Marco. I don't think you're correct. I have an 8G Kuro and will hold on to it for now because - properly set up - the picture is so entirely natural and 'unforced'. It may not be the last word in sharpness (only HD ready), but I haven't seen anything better in every other respect. From what I've read, there are plenty of reviewers who seem to agree.

Sorreltiger -it,s ok we don,t have to agree on everthing - after all i think that what make's thise forum more fun.

But i still do think that apparently u havn,t seen what a properly calibrated panasonic, LG, samsung can do...iam sure u wouid be amazed with the result! unless it stuck physiological y in your mind that is the pionner 9G is the best, then nothing is gonna change that.

The opener asked is the 5090 worth the extra £500, I was fortunate to get one of these tvs, obviously not quite as good as the KRA series (all you KRA owners are really quite blessed ! ) but is it really worth the extra £500 premium ....well that depends on one's circumstances, if you're a millionaire its not going to hurt much to get that extra ounce of quality but to most people thats a load of Blu-rays/10 months subscription to sky or Virgin/ Food / Heating or whatever.

Marco_1 makes a good point about what picture other brands are able to produce. I feel most of the current generation of tvs do a very good job on high definition performance, I really liked the high def images produced by the Sonys , LG , Samsung etc.Infact if you set up a 9G pioneer against say for example an Samsung LED both displaying high def in a high street shop I suspect you might find many people in the high street preferring the LED picture.

But I was a little disappointed with the current tvs rendition of standard defintion with the exception of the Toshiba and Philips models but as I mostly watch standard def (chucked out my sky dish to replace with Hotbird 6 satellite to watch JSTV which only outputs in standard def) I opted for the 5090. However for most people who watch mainly Sky HD or watch Freeview HD or Virgin HD or Blu-rays I am not convinced that the 5090 is worth the extra £500. I supose its like saying how much better Blu-ray picture you're going to get when paying for a £4,600 Denon DVD A1UD over a Sony s370, not much IMHO.....

Finally when the Kuro killer emerges, Kuro prices will tumble... Looking forward to OLED and Toshiba Cell... may be
