Hi

I am planning the Sky+ HD and digital TV aerial connections to my Pioneer KRP 500A screen and it’s separate and it Media Receiver box, and I need some advice please on how best to connect it all up. I should also add that I wish to distribute Sky+ HD and TV signals (both Standard Def.) to some other rooms via the RF out from the Sky+ HD box (?) via a loft distribution amplifier.

Here are my assumptions on connections:-

1. The Sky+ HD box (Samsung) will be connected to the Pioneer Media Centre box via HDMI (or should it go directly to the AV receiver ?)

2. 5.1 audio from the Sky+ HD box will go via it’s optical output to my AV receiver (Yamaha RX V3900)

3. The RF out from the s Sky+ HD box will feed the loft distribution system amplifier 4. The digital TV aerial feed should connect directly to the aerial connection on Pioneer Media Centre box (?)

So, regarding the above assumptions, am I on the right track here please ?

Ideally I want to feed a “clean” digital TV aerial signal to the Pioneer screen so as to get the best possible SD digital TV picture ; but how do I then get a (RF) digital TV aerial feed to the Sky+HD box for distribution without compromising the quality of the digital TV signal to the screen ? Can I “split” the TV aerial feed somehow ?

I guess that someone out there must have done this ? Many thanks.

You can do, but it's more usual to send the aerial feed straight to the Sky box, the RF Out 1 to the TV and RF Out 2 off to other devices. That would save you having to split the signal, however it should be pretty easy to test it, assuming your sky box and media receiver aren't too far apart.

Thanks the_lhc. The media box and Sky+ HD box are above each other on my rack ..so pretty close.

Are my other connection assumptions OK in your view ? Thanks.

Yeah they look fine to me, you *could* run the Sky HDMI through the amp but given it's only carrying stereo sound there's really not a lot of point, so you might as well leave it plugged into the TV, at least then you can watch TV without the amp on, if you wish.
