Hi All,

I got my Pioneer KRP-500A professionally calibrated today by a Pioneer 1+ Authorised Dealer for £250. However some of the things he told me about which mode and settings to watch this panel on somewhat contradict alot of what i've read and heard. For example i've read that the Enhanced Optimum Mode was pretty much a gimmick and one not too be used by any AV enthusiast as Pure Mode was really the best setting for the KRP, apparently not so, he calibrated my Sky HD Box in Optimum Mode but my AV Receiver and Blu-ray Player were calibrated in User Mode. So obviously i had to challenge him on the Enhanced Optimum Mode for Sky HD in particular as i had been using Pure Mode and he said that was the best setting because of the varying types of Broadcasting you receive on the Sky platform from HD channels down to 480,576 etc & too be honest when he finished calibrating on Sky HD he was right AWESOME! Blu-ray images now have such depth to them almost 3-Dimensional just like WOW!

I would be interested to hear from anyone else if they have had their KRP or 5090 calibrated in the same way or Guru's what do you think.

I had my 600A calibrated very recently and i confessed to the chap (Gordon) who calibrated it that I actually liked Optimum mode and I thought pure mode which everyone raves about looled pale and washed out to me. During the calibration he explained to me what he was doing and why he was doing it, about the limitations of my TV, sky box etc. It was all very interesting. He configured the user modes and created an additional 2 profiles underneath user mode. I dont know if it makes much difference which mode they use to base the settings on tbh.

Have to agree on one point though. I thought my pic already looked fantastic, when he finished it looked much better.

If you want to step it up yet another notch you can invest (and its quite a considerable investment) on a stand-alone video processor like the radiance. Google them. Makes interesting reading.
