Would the Pioneer be a vast picture improvement over the Sony?

Well there's definitely an improvement - and one i'm confident you'd see on your 42in Full HD set - but i'd hesitate to call it 'vast'. I'd suggest a step-up upgrade would bring you such an increase. We're testing the £500+ players next - including the new Pioneer 'LX52 and the new @£600 Denon player.

I'll hold out for now, liking the look of the Denon DBP-2010. Will the Oppo be in that test?

Only if the official European version makes it to us on time, which looks doubtful
