I've decided that I am going to go for this player (£1500) for my system, which is 4-5yrs old PDP-434HDE plasma & AV VX10iS amplifier. I have bought any new AV equipment for 3 years so I've managed to but aside quite a bit. I have read on spec sheets that the blu-ray LX91 weighs a whopping 14kg, I want to know if weight has a bearing on picture/sound quality or is pioneer doing this to justifty charging £1500. The Denon 3800 blu ray & Marantz 9600 blu ray weigh in a 10kg and cost the same. As a pioneer fan over the years I chose to go with the Pioneer.

While weight can be said to be an indication of quality, mainly with amplifiers, it's not necessarily the be all and end all when it comes to source components. Many products may have a heavier chassis than some, which could give the impression of quality, but may use cheaper parts to hit price points. The proof is in the testing, so when all the models are released, find a dealer with the ones you want to hear or see, and make your own comparisons.

Hi

I think this will give you a very unbalanced system, with a source that it much better than the receiver and TV. Have you considered buying the Pioneer LX71 Blue-ray player and LX71 receiver instead?
