Pioneer 4280xd or Loewe Individual 42 - Help !!!

Have not set a budget but I like the Pioneer 4280xd at around £1400, but have the chance of a Loewe Individual 42 at £1900.

The Pioneer reviews look great, the Loewe has the Hard drive recording option ......

Complete novice needs your help.

PS My Hubby likes the Loewe but is it worth the extra dosh !!!!!

Pioneer, no question, plus about £200 or less for a good Freeview HDD recorder, or PVR. Some friends of mine have just installed a Pioneer PDP-428XD, and already have a TVonics HDD recorder, and the two work together very well, despite the latter 'only' having an RGB Scart output into the Pioneer.

Hello Andrew. Have you actually seen a Pioneer 4280xd in action and been able to compare it to the 428xd? Do you think it's safe to say that, in terms of picture quality and to a lesser extent sound quality, these tvs are basically the same? Is the only difference between them mainly just superficial ie. cheaper model is less stylish, has no picture in picture mode, etc.

Saw them at the launch in Rome last year - see here - and AFAICR really couldn't tell the difference between them at a normal viewing distance.
