I purchased a Samsung LED 8 Series 3 months ago........very happy with it apart from the usual lip syc issues....

Now interested in buying Philips 9704.......available now for £1500.

Tempted to get the Philips if I can get a buyer for my Samsung.

Is it worth the outlay in terms of performance in comparison to the Samsung I currently own?.

The Philips gets fab reviews on this website......ponder ponder!!!

Yes, the Philips 9704 gets fab reviews on this website, and don't get me wrong I highly respect the WhatHifi reviews, but when making a purchase like this I would check out some more reviews to get a second and/or third opinion.

If you do so you will find out, that this Philips TV really divide the reviewers. It is really all about what you prioritise.

Personally I would take neither of these TVs, but if I had to choose it would be the Samsung.

Thanks for the advice.........

Will continue to window shop for the moment.

To be honest, I saw the older Philips 9664 in Richer Sounds and wasnt that impressed.

Have read there are issues with the LED panels within the screen of the 9704.

Having spend £1250 on the Samsung, I was hoping the PQ would be fantastic......but its not.

Its pretty good with HD TV broadcasts and blu ray, but think I could have got more for my money.
