I have just had this set for about a week from JL and just noticed while cleaning the screen, it has one dead pixel. Has anyone else had this problem, I know its only one pixel but thats the point, I know. Can I get it changed? plus I noticed it also has the overtightened screws on the shiny high gloss black surround.

The overtightened screws seems to be a fairly common complaint on this model (see this thread). On the dead pixel, you can contact JL about it and ask for a replacement. The manufacturer will have a small-print get out clause on the percentage of the screen for dead pixels so they won't be under any obligation to replace it. However, some stores will do it as a good faith thing to keep up customer service, especially if it's only been a week.

Thanks for the reply prof, Took your advice, JW are going to replace the set (which is nice), yippee. Has any one received the TH-42PZ85B without the overtightened screw problem? Sounds like something you would pay extra for eh! nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

I too would like to hear if anyone has an TH-42PZ85B without that screw pressure problem. They appear on mine too. Not heard of one without the problem yet (!).

Also, is it a problem that people have tried fixing themselves - shorter screws, or loosening the pressure on them (slightly I hasten to add!).

Well just received my new replacement set and guess what? Yes it does have the overtightened screws problem again but it also came with another dead pixel! Has anyone else had dead pixels on this model or am I just unlucky?

Is it a dead or stuck pixel?

Sometimes (albeit rarely) the stuck ones right themselves, but they can be more annoying!

I think an awful lot of sets have them, just not a lot of people notice them. I've spotted the odd one on friends TV's, but have kept my gob shut!
