If Sports performance and Black levels are important then i would gladly recommend the TX-P50G10, you just need to read other people's post about the G10 if your confused, everyone loves this tv and is Panasonic's best selling series.

there are many people who read the whfi reviews of those two tvs that wonder why the b650 gets 5 stars over the g10 , but remember , its their opinion , ive read every review on the net of the g10 , and they all rate it higher than the b650 apart from whfi , just google panasonic g10 reviews and see for yourself ... its a great tv ....

Many people seam to dismiss the likes of Samsung over say Panasonic almost in a AV snobery but Samsung do produce some cracking TVs, I know this as I own one! and I replaced a Panasonic with my current Samsung.

Truth be told the only real way of making a propper decision is to go and view both sets in action with a mixture of both Sd and HD TV, and Blu-Ray and DVD and pick the set YOU prefer. Reviews are merely someone elses oppionion of the TV and may not ultimatly be the same as yours.

No in my oppionion both TVs have their strenghts and weakneeses. A plus with the Panasonic is that it does offer better black levels over the B650 (in my oppionion this all is) but to my eyes the Samsung has a much sharper image(especially with HD content) as where side buy side I found the Panasonics image rather soft and it did not quite have the punch a HD image can offer.

Another plus for Samsung over Panasonic for me is in that they give you all the tools you need in the standard menu to correctly calibrate your new TV as where Panasonic hide contorls for things like white ballance deep in the service menu which apparantly voids you warrantry if you access them

to me this is utter madness as to correctly calibrate your TV with the rest of your equipment you NEED to establish a correct greyscale on the TV and I have never come accross a TV that has has perfectly tracked the Greyscale from 0-100 IRE on its factory default settings, and if your TV does not have good greyscale then the rest of the settings are effected!
