I was looking to buy my parents the same TV as me PS42Q97 but I couldnt find one and ended up thinking - I could give them my TV - take the £500 I was going to spend on them add £200 and get the TX-P42G10 for myself its £715 in Richer Sounds...

Do you think I would notice a large step in image quality? I do watch HD - bluray, x264, MKV's, PS3 and sky HD....

( Also at this price would you rate this above the best 40-42 under £700 the LG 42H5000? )

Or should I just buy my parents the Samsung PS42B430 for £450 - its the closest I can find to mine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the g10 is 1150 euros here in ireland , £715 is an amazing price , your parents would probably be more than happy with your tv , for £200 more i would definately treat myself , i think it would be easily better than your samsung , which is about 2 years old i think , a long time in the tv world ..

In a word, yes, it's worth it. And it's slightly less at Richer Sounds with a cheap extended warranty. You might also want to consider the current WHF budget 42" tv (LG) and the Philips 42PFL7404. All can be got for a similar price. That said, if you're sold on plasma rather than LCD, the G10 at this price is an excellent choice. I can vouch for that because I own one...
