I have taken a year to decide which new tv to buy. This forum and the mag have been a great help although confusing at times. I finally bought a Panasonic TH42 PX70 with a Pana stand from Crampton & Moore. Delivered on time, 5 year guarrentee, Magic.

It has taken me a while to get it set up with my old equipment, Liteon HDD DVD recorder with component output, and oldish Sky box, but I made it. The picture quality is good with analogue and great with Freeview/Sky.

My old dvd player was not brilliant so I took Proffessor hat's advice and bought a Samsung HD DVD 870 for £47 with free delivery (yippee) and the ordinary dvd's are excellent. (I may even splash out on some HD DVD''s from ebay, but maybe not!!)

I don't find the sound too bad for most viewing but I am not a Videophile or home cinema enthusiast so what do I know

My Grandson thinks it's cool with his PS2 games and can't wait to try his Wii whatever that is.

Many thanks to What Hi Fi S & V, another satisfied customer.

I am glad you are happy with your purchase. The Plasma is a great set. Wii is a game that wil have you bouncing about. Hope you are fit, you will need to be!

Glad to see my advice paid off! One word of further advice though - the Samsung isn't an HD-DVD player - I hope I didn't give you that impression. It is merely an upscaling DVD player so it won't play HD-DVDs.

I did get confused but it was my fault not yours. I am not interested in the HD DVD's actually so it doesn't matter. The results from ordinary dvds are spectacular and at that price who can complain.
