Hey guys, my telly's just packed up and I'm bored and angry. I turned it on as normal, the green led flashed as normal, the fans turned on as normal then the picture came on and then 'click', it all went off and the red led flashes 7 times. Coincidentally I changed the power lead to a Clearer Audio copperline alpha a week ago. The telly's out of warranty at 20 months old.

Has anyone else had a similar problem. I've read on other forums that this is a common fault with many Panny plasmas. I'll give panny a shout tomorrow to see if they can help.

If it's a common fault you have a fair chance of getting it repaired out of warrenty, as with an item like that at 20 months old you have a good case for bringing the sale of goods act into the equation.

Did you buy it from Panasonic? If not you should really contact the retailer.

I know someone who's had the same problem more or less. The problem with his was the power supply if that's of any help.

Sorry to hear it.

I'm sure it's got nothing to do with the mains lead, as a purer lead can't hurt.

I have a similar Panny and hope it doesn't happen to me.

I would hope that Panny would listen given the relatively high price.

A good ad for shopping at John Lewis.

Whatever you do, don't entertain a Samsung.

Speak to them and mention that you are a forum regular and I'm sure they will sort it. they have too much to lose if they don't.

I"d also go along with the power supply/dry joint route. good luck. should be fixed for free by Pana in my book.

I just thought I'd update you on the problem the guy (a work colleague) had with his. He had the same fault 4 times with the same work being carried out only to become faulty again. He no longer has the set as it's very recently been written off and vouchers have been issued to him for a replacement.

Good luck with yours though, I hope you get it sorted!

Had a call yesterday from the repair man. It's been fixed and Panny have picked up the tab (except the £65 inspection fee). Should get it back today. Hope the repair lasts. It would be a shame to have to replace it for a newer bigger TV. (NOT!)

A guy told me yesterday that there is an EU rule that all electrical goods should be backed up by a 3 year warranty. Anyone know anything about this? If this is true I'll try and get the inspection fee back.
