Hi

I have read a recent review on the above TV and with this and a few other comments on the Forum i get the feeling there is some disappointment with this TV, talk of poor SD handling and the Inteligent Frame Creation causing more problems than its trying to eliminate worries me as i was going to exchange my PZ70 for this new model, my reason for changing was the slight judder i get with Blu Ray, i understand this TV can handle 24FPS correctly which the PZ70 does not but it looks like i will have to trade off poor SD quality if i swap??

Any thoughts, may wait for the PZ80

Personally i think the PZ80 is better value than the 85.

One online store is selling it for £869.00 which is a good £200 cheaper than the 85 and the only real difference is the IFC and contrast ratio from memory.

I have purchased this tv after a lot careful consideration and now that i have it, i think it is awwsome. the SD images are very good and definatley not worse than previous models. Don't forget also it comes down to the quality of the signal that each channel broadcasts. Some people like the Intelligent frame creation and some don't but this is down to preference which can be turned off. This works very well in in some areas but can suffer in others but not to the point it really bothers you, and if it does turn the IFC off. Wait till you put a PS3 or blu-ray or 360 and then it really does show what this tv is about.

This TV is high on my short list to buy in the next couple of months.

just to clarify: the review that is mentioned in posts above does not report "poor SD handling", but a not efficient de-interlacing in film mode, which is slightly different. In particular this may indicate that the tv set will most likely show loss of (vertical) resolution and/or blur with 1080i signals, which are e.g. those broadcasted by sat HD, or the typical output of an (up)scaler from a standard DVD. Other issues that may affect your tv choice are evident phosphor trails (green ghosting), to which the sensitivity is however very subjective and, for the pz85/800, if you want, the hard-to-find rationale for extra money in exchange of the IFC, which showed little use in many situations. this is what appears to be the verdict, but...go and see the tv in person! only like this you can judge
