looking to buy my first plasma tv narrowed it down to pannasonic 42px80 or 42pz80 is it worth paying extra for pz model. can anyone help this plasma novice

What will you be using the TV for? e.g. just as a TV, Sky, Sky HD, DVD, Blu-Ray, gaming etc. etc.

The main difference between the PX80 and PZ80 model is the HD ready vs Full HD spec (i.e. 720p vs 1080p). If your main viewing over the next few years is going to be TV (be it Sky+ or Sky HD) I would recommend saving some money and going for the PX80. There are increasing numbers of HD channels on Sky HD, but I don't think this is reason enough to spend a great deal more on a Full HD TV, especially when quite a few channels will still be SD (i.e. 576i) for a number of years yet. If you're thinking of Blu-Ray becoming a major viewing source in the future on the other hand...
