Hi,

Im looking for a 42" - 46" Plasma, so can someone explain the current range of Panasonic Plasma, there is the G10 and now the V10. Whats coming up is there more coming out, or already out??. Was set on the V10 and the reviews have been mixed, so want to know what my options are!!.

Everything you need to know is here -

As far as I'm concerned, I'll be getting the 42V10. Don't let the review put you off, go and see one working and then make your decision.

Don't be put off by the what Hi fi review I think they've been a bit harsh only giving it four stars. The v10 is also available online for £1249.99 on amazon, play and at Digital Direct, at that price I think it certainly represents value for money.

Hi,

Thanks for your help, i have been on to Panasonics website, is the G15 range out yet?? if so how much is it likley to be, reviews etc, if not when is it's release date.

Thanks.

The G15 range, I think, comes out next month. At Play.com the 46" G15 is £200 more than the G10. Specs suggest it to be similar to V10, so it will probably be a 4 or 5 star product.

G10/G15 are not the same PQ as the V10 as that has THX picture mode.

Have you seen a v10 yet? I saw one in John Lewis and thought it looked really good, on blu ray atleast. I still need to see how it performs with freeview and dvd, but hopefully it should be good.

Just wondering what's made you go for it in spite of it not being a 5star product, instead of the g10. My reason is unrelated to picture, in that i don't like the design of the g10, and think the v10 looks better. Not sure this is worth paying £300 more though, which is why i was wondering why you're going for the v10.

Unrelated to this, I'm probably going to buy the tv online and save £250, and use the difference to buy an extended warranty. I know JL has 5 year free warranty, but i was told it doesn't cover call out (£100) amongst other things. Does anyone know if you can get product cover, call out, parts and labour etc independently?

John Lewis dont charge callout.

The V10 has better PQ than the G10, THX picture mode is nigh on perfect "straight out of the box" with no need for calibration. It has extra HDMI, better design with one sheet of glass, much thinner panel (2"), Digital Cinema Colour, Deep Colour, improved sound.. etc...

Edit: Forgot about Viera Cast DLNA access. All in all, worth £300?

Hi. I am having my v10 delivered on friday from a local(cardiff)dealer £1400,i shall post on weekend my veiws.
I just have to say that in the shop compared to the sonys the picture was more realistic, sky hd hook up was fantistic.

Rewerb,

How do you know JL don't charge call out? I was told that the JL guarantee didn't cover a lot of things, and that it cost JL very little to provide it for this reason. The person that told me works in Hughes (a shop in east anglia), and he knew i wasn't going to buy the tv there because they didn't have it and i was moving to london, where they dont have shops. He recomended buying the tv online and using the saving to buy an extended warranty that he said covers everything, but i can't remember the name of the company he said.

I saw the V10 in JL the other day, and unfortuneately it is not 2" as you say (and as i was expecting, having read that somewhere), but something like 3.75" compared to the g10 which is slightly over 4".

Because I asked them before I bought the TV from them. JL will send out the engineer for free if there is a fault under the guarantee. They are of course well known for their very good customer service.

The bulk of the TV panel is 5.5cm thick, but it does flare out at the back at the centre bottom where all the connections are.

I was in comet two days ago & i noticed that panasonics X,G & S range looked identical (appearence) also today i was in john lewis & saw a 42V10, it didn't look very different to the X,G & S models you realy have to check the model No's. to see what the telly is.

Has anybody else noticed this or is it me, i'm sure they were all slightly different last year.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been on holiday.

I haven't seen one yet. I have seen the G10 though and I'm pressed with the performance of that although like you, I dislike the design. With the V10 being later in the range it will more than likely have a superior performance, especially with the inclusion of the THX certification.

I'm still waiting for one to arrive in work so I can see it working but the horizon is not clear as of yet. I'll be getting one regardless though as I want a 42" plasma and there is no better option out there for me in terms of performance, design and build quality other than the V10.

Hi,got my v10 today and i am very impressed, blury is fantistic with standard def the best i have seen on any tv even on the more poor signal chanels.
The freesat tuner is very impressive,my inital thoughts was to get sky hd but i dont know now if i really need it as performance with my sky+ is much better than expectied.
The looks of the v10 is a very good looking tv so much that the installer said"WHAT A SEXY LOOKING TV "when he took it out of the box.

Simoncar,

just wondering if you had noticed any problems with your tv, ie flicker problems as a another person posted, on any sources (dvd,tv, bluray), or any motion judder issues, Image retention etc

I'm thinking of buying the tv, but have a few doubts about a) plasmas as a technology - although i prefer them to lcd, & b) the doubts raised by the 4 star review on this site.

Hi hmtb, no issues at all ,dont worry about four star reveiw,I personally think it is the best tv that i have seen.

Hi Simoncar, Just wondered how it was going with the V10. Have seen it in the shop and i am impressed, just thought i would get your feedback.

Thanks

Hi smarky, wonderfull is a word to describe it ,I am just watching glastburry on bbc 4 through freesat and the picture is so close to HD that i think with this tv i dont think you need sky HD.Blueray is fantastic through my ps3.
Iwould recomend this tv to anyone, dont worry about 4 stars reveiws.

Hi Simoncar,

I too am very impressed with the tv, pretty good sd tv, very good dvd IMO, and blu ray looks terrific.

Only issue is that it makes a clicking/ pinging noise when on standby - not very often and quite random. It also does it within the first 2 minutes of being turned off (on to standby), though this isn't quite as loud as at other times. I don't know if you've read my posts on this issue, but would you mind listening out for it? It only does it when the tv is in standby as far as I can tell. The shop where I bought it, also does it, but only within the first 2 minutes of being turned off.

Thanks

Having the V10 I am more than happy with the TV with no gripes.

However dissapointed with Intelligent Frame Creation as said in previous threads just makes stuff look like it was filmed with a video camera.

So THX picture mode is the only reason that I chose the V10 over the G10.
I find THX is a tad dark for everyday viewing so I only view blu rays with this.
Most every day viewing is with 'normal' to get a brighter picture.
I do wonder if I would have been equally impressed with the G10?

Not sure about previous posts saying how good SD is.
HD display is faultless but SD doesn't look as good as my previous 720p panny.
Certainly some SD does look okay but some looks very poor.
