I would and have now bought the Oppo 203 having previously tried both Panasonic blu ray players and the Samsung. The Panasonic's do have good picture quality but some DVDs don't play in full screen, something you can adjust on the Oppo and the Samsung. But I would say the Samsung is probably the worse quality. One thing you can do with the Oppo is check the HDR picture quality with an on and off switch on the remote, where you can clearly see the quality of it.near dark said:Hi,

No settings for the DVD wide full screen, and the TV won't do it either but most people actually don't seem bothered by this. So I would say buy but there are new 4K Blu ray players coming out soon and I would probably buy the Sony 4K blu ray player at £400 and get 3 free 4k Blu rays but that is also for Dolby Vision which my TV does, if you are not bothered by that then the Panasonic is for you.bigboss said:Surely the OP's budget is less than the alternatives suggested? Otherwise the OP would have considered the Panasonic 900? I'm not sure what DVD playback issue you're mentioning gel, I haven't read it anywhere else. It's got to do with settings, to make it play full screen. By not playing full screen, what do you exactly mean? Black bars on top and bottom?
Panasonic 700 player has got consistently excellent reviews. Check HDTV Test review for example. It would be a fine choice. Oppo 205 would be of use only if you intend to use analogue outs.
I would want to watch a 4:3 film in 4:3 ratio. It's impossible to make it full screen without stretching and distorting the picture.gel said:No settings for the DVD wide full screen, and the TV won't do it either but most people actually don't seem bothered by this. I mean with the DVD picture it goes into 4:3 aspect ratio I think and you can't change it.
