Simoncar,

I had the Pioneer BDP-LX52 and was not impressed with it considering it retailed for £550!

I sold it. I also had the Pioneer BDP-320 and to me the LX-52 does not justify the difference in price.

I have not had a chance to see the BD85 in action although I had the BD80 and that was a solid machine.

I had a Panny BD 80, then bought a Pioneer LX-71 as an upgrade

There is no comparison, the Pioneer is in a different league for Picture and Sound and is quicker.

I mean a different league as well - budget to high end difference.

See if you can get one used or get the LX-08, that is just as good.

Put the Blu ray on PDP video setting, put Avatar on and you will SEE the DIFFERENCE.

See how much you was missing before, it blow your socks off!! I

So, the LX-71 (Profile 1) is quicker in loading speed to the BD80 (Profile 2)?

I too had pioneer lx52 on loan, had problems not playing certain love film discs also very slow loading times for a player what was £550 now discounted not very impressed ,looks of the pioneer i prefered but thats not everything.

Update now have panny bd85 loading times not the fastest but quicker than the pioneer very happy with picture and sound quality overall very happy with purchase.

sorry to jump in here but i also have a dilema regarding the pioneer lx52. i'm torn between this and the lx08. i can get the lx08 for £150 and the lx52 for £250. i'm looking to pair with a pioneer vsxlx 52 but was wondering which is recommended on here by users more. i don't really watch bd live content, however have other players i can use for this anyway. i'm really just interested in which player looks, and sounds the best with movies. i have to say though the lx08 is stunning in appearance.

All help and opininos welcomed.

The only issue you have with getting the LX08 over a newer 52 if your not bothered about bd live is warranty, will you have a sufficient one with the 08. In terms of performance the 08 will be at least on a par with the 52 if not better and is still supported on the pioneer uk site with updates. The 08 is actually an LX71 in a dress. It's worth bearing in mind that the LX52 is now already dated and pioneer are now on the LX54 although there is the thought that the LX52 is the last of the genuine pioneers and not forged from the pioneer sharp collaboration which the LX53+54 fall into. Another point of note is that both the LX08+LX71 are still listed on the current pioneer blu ray player list with the 08 sat directly below the flagship LX91. So a previously +£600 player for £150 that still has upgrade support is well worth the money providing you can fix it if something does happen to go wrong.
