Panasonic 50V20 VS Panasonic 50VT20

Other than the £800 more for the VT20, could someone tell me the differences?

I suppose that the biggest difference is that the VT20 is 3D and the V20 is not .

yes , to help with 3d performance , especially with motion , but the v20 is fine with the normal cells by all accounts , motion is very good , so i didnt bother mentioning it .. might just confuse things

I got my VT20 last week.

I loved 3d at the cinema....I loved 3d in the pub.....I even loved it in the shop.

At home with time to look at it in detail - I wouldnt bother its just not worth wearing the glasses, I was bored with the sky feed after 10 minutes and the set is just so good at 2D that you wont want to compromise the beautiful picture - from absolute advocate of 3D to total sceptic

The V20 looks an absolute storming deal

good question gel , ive often wondered that myself , they are quality tvs , and afaik lcds are cheaper to make than plasmas too , so shouldnt they be cheaper

Also Panasonics appear to me that they are getting cheaper each year, where other brands have reached a (can't think of the word) ummmm a consistent price lets say?

Is is just sound in the tv they are compromising in doing so? ie by doing so i mean getting cheaper.

no gel they are not compromising anything , sound is at least as good as the competition (philips 9 series apart) , better than all those ultra slim tvs out there too ..

im guessing , but id say that the plasma technology is just being refined every year , they are not changing all that much really , so are not having to spend a fortune to keep improving their tvs , and so can sell them for less , that would be my guess ..

I think that the 65'' will only be 3D . A 65V20 would be nice though .

I have been reading alot about these two tvs and they say the only difference is that the VT20 has a faster phospher and 3D technology.

Any ideas what a "faster phospher" is?

I have a 50V20 arriving next wednesday, I'm hoping its as good as the reviews state and doesn't suffer from any of the problems faced by other owners on a different forum

The faster reaction is required for the rapid switching in 3D applications, but merely to say the TV has 'a faster phosphor', as you have read in those descriptions, is overly simplistic.

Do you think you would see a difference in a 2d picture between the 50V and the 50VT? or is it merely for the 3D pictures?

Some owners have concerns over colour banding, floating blacks and noise from the televisions fan. However there are just as many owners who have not experienced any of these problems. Hope I'm one of them!

Has anyone mentioned the screen given off abit of a flicker?

I noticed a flicker on the panasonic 42G20 the other day and i then noticed people were talking about this as well.

Well, phosphor is element number 15. To say some phosphors are faster than others really makes no sense and of course is an over simplification.

I can't say for sure either, but Andrew is probably right that Panasonic might have applied another phosphor compound which behaves differently from the usual one (and this compound is synthesised, not formulated

)
