I need some help !!

I am new to all this HD revolution. Looking for a decent (the best all round picture) 37in set, at this size and based on the reviews in the magazine, i have decided on a Panasonic. They always seem to win the awards, but with a load of new models on the market, which is the best model for the money ? I was all set to go for either the px70 or lzd70 - are the new models noticebly better ?

I currently have Sky + , but will upgrade to Sky HD, I have a PS3 for gaming and movies (may buy a seperate player like the new Panasonic Blue Ray), Nintendo Wii and seperate amp + speakers. Will also be connecting a PC. I watch a lot of sport and movies and do a fair amount of gaming.

Your help would be much appreciated.

37PX80 or 42PX80... stay away from the LCDs if you watch any SD or sports. Don't let anyone tell you that you will suffer screen burn, it has turned into an urban myth. You may notice a little retention, but this is not the same as burn, retention will disappear in a matter of seconds

Thanks for that !

Does it matter at this size that the px80 is not full HD. Really want to get the most out of the technology ? Would love to go to 42 inch and would probably go for the 42pz85 or even the pioneer 428xd, but i think that 42inch would be too big for my room. Also concerned about the light, my lounge has a window at the front and panel glass door at the back, so have lots of light coming in. Sometimes struggle to see my current sony CRT. Will that make a difference if i opted for a plasma ?

At 37inches you will not notice a difference except really close up. At 42in, you might. Personally, I have just received a cheque for £1300 which I decided to spend all of it on a telly and so I went to John Lewis to buy the TH-42PZ85 fullHD set. When I got there, I could not tell the difference between the two in HD, the blacks were a little better on the PZ85, but only very slightly, and the SD on the PZ85 was quite a lot worse. Taking into account nearly all TV is in SD still and the switch over to HD is quite a while away (London change over is 2012, until then not enough bandwidth to support freeview HD) I think the best buy was the PX80. With regard to reflection or a dim screen in a light room, I have had no reflection issues, but if the sun is shining directly into the room, the screen does get a bit dim, but not too bad..... it is better than my old Panny CRT.

Thanks - went down to Currys yesterday just to have a look at the 42PZ85, 42PX80 and the pioneer 4280XD. Have to say that overall i thought PX80 was the best picture of the lot, expecially as you can get this for around £660. The pioneer had slightly better blacks, but only slightly am not prepared to pay double for slightly better. Also the wife said that 42 inch was probably the best size to go for, which is a bonus, so it's looks like i will get 42in after all.
