I have the 42v10 from the pansonics 09 viera plasma range.
My amp is an onkyo 606 and by Blu Ray is a BD-30.
On arrival of my new plasma I hooked it to up to the 606 to play my first blu ray a full hd 1080p 24ps.
To my surprise the blu ray failed to hdmi handshake with the v10 so no picture, just static and black screen as it tried to sync the hdmi.
I contacted sevenoaks hifi whom I purchased the BD-30 and onkyo 606 in november last year.
So here is the news for some reason the onkyo amps will find it difficult to handshake with the current viera range.
Onkyo have been testing this with sevenoaks since I raised the issue.
Onkyo has now recognised that this issue impacts the 606 and 607 and possibly more amps.
This is also not fixed by any current firmware.
So it would appear that Panasonic have changed something in the HDMI handshaking that is upsetting Onkyo amps when they are passing a 1080p signal.
If I ouptut at 1808i everything works as expected.
I have been very impressed by how sevenoaks hifi (on my behalf) and onkyo have wasted no time in verifying that there is an issue.
I now await for onko to come up with an answer.
Having said all this using viera link does present me with a way to get the handshake working on 1080p after short delay the handshake will work.
