Hi strapped do you have the v20 wall mounted? I have my vt20 on a mount and at first drove me crazy but I added some rubber bushions between the bracket and tv and it helped quite a bit.

It was on the pedastal stand, where my G10 is sitting again. Unfortunately, the wall mount solution doesn't apply in my case.

Having switched back, I miss the detail, accurate colours and darker blacks of the V20; but importantly the G10 isn't so noisy it interferes with viewing, while 100Hz scanning looks silky smooth by comaprison. If only you could combine the best of both sets that would be a fantastic TV. Maybe, just maybe, that'll be the G30, though I feel less confident they've sorted the motion issue.

Perhaps my V20 was more prone to buzzing than others, but I don't want the aggravation of swapping TVs on the off chance I'll get one I'm happy with. I think the sensible thing is to sit back and see what happens with 2011 models from all manufacturers.

Glad you're happy with the VT20, though. I can genuinely understand why anyone that isn't irritated by buzzing, or landed a 2010 Pana television that buzzes less than the one I'm returning, would be very happy.

If you could go to a 50inch in the future the buzzing would go down alot from my experiences, i am not sure if that size is suitable or not for you though. I do understand with the buzzing though it can drive you crazy. Perhaps if you can look at something like the 50G30 in the future - just an idea.

Have you made the decision and made the call then, Strapped? I got a YSP 2200 today so the sound is better but I'm most unamused by the discolouration issue i mentioned.

Its soemtimes very apparent indeed. It is mostly with certain programmes, but it isnt entirely absent from others. Seems to happen regardless of if its HD or SD, and regardless of the picture preset I use.

Despairing smiley.

EDIT - The guy in the shop I bought the YSP from suggested I try to reign certain colours in - can I do that?

I'm sure I wasn't having this particular problem a week or so back...

Hi Al.

The V20's boxed up and being collected on Thursday.

I certainly don't want to influence how you feel about your TV. The main reason for return was buzzing, which seemed to get louder during the days I owned the television. Having read so much about the issue, it's unlikely Panasonic would consider it a fault, but I reached a point where I could hear it constantly, even with the TV at reasonably loud volume levels.

As I said above, if it wasn't for this problem I'd have kept the TV, as other areas of performance are fantastic. Yes, floating blacks are a bit annoying, and motion could be better, but I could have lived with these "features" had it not been for the incessant buzzing. I'm not sure if my V20 buzzed louder than others, but it certainly became distracting to me. Having reinstated my G10, it also buzzes, but not constantly, and not as distractingly as the V20.

With regard to your colour issue, on the THX picture preset I found four clicks below the default setting (i.e. four clicks below half) seemed about right. Obviously I don't know what picture mode you're using, or how you've calibrated your TV, but this setting might be worth a shot. You can start messing around with the advanced picture controls, but without the proper tools for calibration, you'd probably be groping in the dark...

Just seen this, less buzzing and if you don't put any firmware updates on (if it was me) then seems not bad:

Not sure how Amazon are though with problems.
good spot gel, that is a great price. trouble is the g series are prone to the same issues that afflict the v series, maybe that's why it's so cheap :)

Not really been on this site for a while - currently typing with sleeping 5 day old baby on my shoulder!

I remember my tv purchasing dilemma over a year ago, I ended up buying a 42v20 for a discounted prcie of £1100 (was £1400rrp) with the 5 year warranty. Reading this thread bought up all the angst of making the wrong chioice - but I am confident in the knowledge of making the right one for me (and my wife)

They do seem a bit inconsistent, but here is my long term outcome of the known problems:

Banding - yes (still a little distracting)

Floating blacks - never noticed (running in thx mode since day one)

Motion issues - none

Buzzing/fan noise - yes, but not noticeable at normal audio levels

Rising black levels - not noticed - blacks still very black IMHO

At £700 this set represents fantastic value, and I still believe image quality is unrivalled by the competition with positive long term ownership prospects, provided you are happy with it initially.

On line purchasing with the option to return for a full refund would be the way to go if you are concerned.

As has oft been suggested - there is no perfect set - but this is close enough for me.

I wish people would stop expecting miracles.
