Hi folks

Picked up Paloma Faith's new album Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful and have ripped it lossless to my PC for wireless streaming. Ordinarily this is more than a happy arrangement, though my setup does seem to get a bit confused by busy/fast midrange stuff, but I thought that Paloma Faith's music was relatively simple stuff that should work beautifully on my set up - as does Adele, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Elbow, Amy Winehouse and a raft of other similar-ish tempo music.

However, it sounds *really* harsh - unlistenable at any but the lowest of volumes, and even then it is quite fatiguing - I haven't managed more than about a song at a time. I played Adele afterwards to make sure it's not happening to everything, and that was as delightful as ever!

Anyone else experience this, or have a theory on why this might be happening?

Thanks

It could be another victim of the 'loudness wars'.
If its noticeably louder than other cd's & sounds terrible try playing it on a pc using something like winamp. Watch the volume peaks on the equaliser display & then compare it to a good recording.
