ONKYO TXSR806 vs DENON AVR2808

Hi People,

can any expert give me some advice on these units please?

my best mate has a TXSR806 and has been offered a AVR-2808 with a very little price tag!

he had a good deal on the onkyo and is wondering what he'd gain or loose from swapping his amp!!

Unless he is making a profit, I think it probably not worth the risk. He knows his amp, he doesnt know what has happened to the other amp, and the differences between the two are remote. The 806 is THX Ultra 2 certified wheras the denon is not, the Denon has a slightly better farodja processing chip, dynamic volume and more hdmi's.

Both amps are a similar age and price category, so I don't see there being much of an upgrade?

Unless he is unhappy with the sound of the Onkyo he should stick with it. The 2808 is an older amp with less HDMI inputs. It does have a warmer slightly softer sound than the Onkyo. I have a 2808 and are happy with but would not advise someone to get one now. It is quite old in AV terms nowadays.

I would stick with the Onkyo, for all intents and purposes.
