I have been reading about the Onkyo TX-SR606 and was looking to buy in the near future but come across some forums of hum from PS3 and certain dvd player inputs. Some people have returned the units without fixing the problem. Can you shed any light on this?

I have been using this model for several months now and I didn't notice any humming from my PS3. This piece of equipment is superb.

I've not heard anything about this, I would consider the option that the OOP might have had other issues not relating to his Onk and PS3...

Not impressed...loads of features etc etc..

Try the amp with a PS3 at 1080p with 7.1 audio..you get a very loud hum..i thought it was my hdmi cables..so i invested in some expensive cables..i thought it was my power surge..so i bought the Tacima..i troubleshooted for days...then i went here:

Edited for house-rules violation - Mods

and found other users with the same issue..apparently the 605 did the same thing and its not fixed in the 606..

think ill be returining mine!

here is where i first read about it. It is in the your opinions section for the 606 review

Scare stories get blown out of proportion on forums.

This is a very typical set up, I wouldn't have any concerns about buying them. If it does 'um take it back!ÿ

I'm pretty sure I read on another forum that there is a firmware fix for this and that it only affected early models. I suggest you contact Onkyo.

looks like the same place I read about it. Still not convinced its a problem with the receiver rather than setup.

I really can't hear any humming. I've just tested a 7.1 DTS-MA blue ray disc with the ps3 and all I can hear is awesome sound. I am also using the Toshiba HD-E1 through my 606 and found no problem at all. Perhaps the audio settings in the ps3 are not properly set.
