onkyo tx-sr508

Was looking to purchase the 508 to go with a new TV im buying but after a few chats to various retailers they inform me its EOL.

That sounds odd as it is a fairly new product, anyone have any idea if it is EOL? its no biggie as i will get the 578 instead but i dont need the features the 579 gives me.

Assuming they mean end of line, I find that hard to believe as it was only launched a few months back. Perhaps they're just trying to sell you up...

And I'm not aware of there being a TX-SR579 yet - again, the TX-SR578 is a relatively recent launch.

yes sorry was a type there - they did try and sell me the 578 which seems to offer upscaling over component (handy but i dont need it)

i disagreed with the sales/store staff i talked to but as they work in the industry i figured they would know more than me.

going to go for it anyway as its the perfect size for my TV unit.
