Onkyo TX-SR 606 or Yamaha RX-V 863

I have listened to both receivers, but can't seem to come to a final decision on which one to buy.I have not seen a review of the RX-V 863 yet and we all know what the Onkyo can do. So those of you who own or have heard the RX-V 863, I would like to hear what your opinions are on the receiver please? I currently have a RX-V 461 and have not had any problems with movies or music.Your input will be greatly appreaciated.

As I have stated a couple of times, we have a static display in our store which did comprise of a Denon 1940, Onkyo 605 and Bose Acoustimass 6's. When the 605's were discontinued and we were waiting for the 606's to come in, we replaced the 605 with the DSPAX763. I wasn't expecting to hear much difference, if any at all. But I was quite surprised to hear how much bigger the soundstage was, and how much more the three front speakers sounded more as one rather than three seperate speakers. There also seemed to be greater depth to what I was hearing as well.

One of the differences between the 763 and 863SE is that the 863SE is UK tuned, meaning they've replaced certain internal components and tweaked the amp to suit the musical requirements of us hard to please British

Looking at the stats, the 763 & the 863 are great, however, the 763 isn't able to upscale to 1080p. If you were picking between the 763 & the 606, which would you go for?

Actually, what are the benefits of upscaling and when would you require it?

Denon 1909 won the group test in that category.

EDIT: group test wont be published until 18th sept, just checked that from a post Clare made on another forum.

I was just gonna say...........thanks Tim. Anway I did eventually buy the 606 and have no regrets, just a wee bit disappointed on the musicality of the 606. I hope that there will an improvement on the 706 and 806.

I'm referring to the test in the Sep issue. Denon 1909 vs. Onkyo 606 vs. Yamaha 563. Winner Denon 1909 with 5 stars. Second place Onkyo 606 and lastly Yamaha with 4 stars. Don't know how the 863 would compare versus the denon and Onkyo... it might be in a different class though.
