Onkyo tx as a pre amp

Could I use a onkyo tx 8050 as a pre amp and use my sansui au717 as the power amp.and if I could how would I go about doing it?.

Yes, you can. You'd need a standard RCA audio cable to connect the pre-out of the Onkyo to the power-amp input of the Sansui.

Is there any particular reason you want to do this?

Just to see how it sounds .i have always wanted to see what the sansui sounded like as a power amp.the only thing I'm not sure of is on the back of the sansui it has a switch that says connected separated direct coupled and capacitor coupled what one would I use.im sure I have seen somewhere that you can damage your amp if you don't get it wright.

I think you have to switch the pre amp on first and the power amp off first or you may run in to problems .anyone have any experience with this?
