Very good point - I didn't even think about that but I also have added the Clearer Audio Copper Line Alpha a few weeks back and, though I noticed an improvement in sound generally (and hence kept the cable), I haven't done any comparative testing between Stereo and Pure Audio since...
Have to put that down on the schedule of things to do!

well i do hope its not as good for music as my roksan/arcam/epos hifi set up or i will be well annoyed!

For music and TV have my 875 set on the all stereo mode. Play most of my music off my Sony RDR970 hard drive. (where I have ripped over 40 CD's in the highest quality) Sounds much better than the PS3 hard drive.

I did notice when I first bought the system that in 'stereo mode' music sounded closed in and lacked sparkle. Where as in 'direct' and 'pure audio' it was cleaner and purer with much improved separation.
With running in, fitting a dedicated supply, Russ Andrews power cables, Tacima block the same levels of musicality have been achieved in Stereo without any brittleness.

So two things stand out, the amp benefits greatly from being fed a clean mains supply, and music source is very important.
PS have compared back to back with my Meridian 206. Amazed that Hard Drive is just as good!!!!

I'm surprised you're not using PL2 or NEO:6 for TV duties. It does actually work quite well.

Isn't all channel stereo for TV a little unfocused?

Chris, you are right!
It is the PL2 mode that I use, I thought that is all channel stereo, is it not?
NEO:6 I find almost as good, but the upper mid & treble is a touch more forward. (could be ironed out on the settings but have tuned them for PL2)
I will have to get the book out and take a look!

PL2 & NEO:6 are both 'pseudo' surround modes. They take the stereo signal and depending on the level of panning between the left & right, it decides to send the sound to the centre, the front pair or the surrounds as required.

This is different to the all channel stereo. This just plays regular stereo from all the speakers. All channel stereo is a fair few more button presses along the processing modes! (I tend to use all channel stereo for radio talk shows, like Danny Baker on BBC London.)
