Onkyo ND-S1 dock cable choice....

Hi, just ordered an Onkyo NS-D1 ipod dock to use via my Dacmagic into my pre-amp, so the question is which cable type to connect the two would be best.......optical or coaxial?

Any help would be appreciated...................d'oh!

Common wisdom seems to be Coaxial, but it's much of a muchness.

I use coax for mine, but I've never really done extensive comparisons against optical.

I have the same setup and naturally used optical but purchased a better interconnect than is provided in the box.

I have not done a comparison but SQ is much better going through the DAC.

Hope your ipod is not a touch 3G with IOS 4.......long story but hopefully Apple will fix the digital issues in the next IOS update.

There's hardly a noticeable difference between Toslink and coax. I use Mark Grant coax into my DAC. Best to try and see what you think. As a side note, the Toslink (optical) cable that comes with the Onkyo is pretty good to be honest - no difference between that and a Monster Lightspeed Toslink.

I, like a fair few can't use the Onkyo with my Ipod Touch since the last update (itunes 10.1) as the playback is terrible (pops and hisses). Hopefully IOS 4 upgrade will sort the problems.
