It was a problem some encountered with the --5 Onkyo models, solved with a firmware upgrade. Your best bet is to contact Onkyo direct for information.

A friend of mine just recently had probs with his onkyo with master audio & apparently he had to send his amp back to them so they can solve the problem as you can only do a firmware upgrade from home with the higher versions.

Thanks for the info.

I will try to contact Onkyo and see what they say.

Hello
Apparently the DTS Bomb makes the volume go to full instantly. I had a letter from my dealer about this and they are sending me an update disc with instructions (I need instructions). The dealer just said don't use DTS MA until it's fixed. I'll try it and let you know. Hopefully it'll fix the DD True HD thing too.

the only info i read on this detailed that the early machines needed returning for a hardward and software upgrade and the newer versions just a firmware upgrade - you need to check your firmware then contact your dealer. This has been mentioned before and there is a big long post on here somewhere with all the contact details if you search for it

I own an 875 with the firmware version 1.2, had to send mine to a company called Genserve who handle all Onkyo upgrades. They did a hardware mod and updated my firmware free of charge, takes about a week.

Hi

Thanks for the replys, I got in touch with Onkyo europe and they sent me the update firmware for DSP, they also said only certain models of the amps are effected by the "Bomb" and suggested I should get in touch with the company called Genserve and see if I needed the update.I was quite pleased with their speed of response.

I will contact Genserve and see what they say.

I got the disc from Genserve and it works fine. You need a CD player connected with an optical link to download the firmware upgrade it takes about a minute to complete.

Hi
Got the update which installed fine. I don't know if it's sorted out the bomb but i've not suffered with it. I was disappointed that it didn't fix the Dolby True HD issue with cars though. Might have to send it back to Genserve.
