Not heard anything in the mag about these models! I'm looking for an upgrade and was considering the 605, until i realised i needed 3 HDMI inputs! SKY HD, PS3 and DVD! Is it as good as it's fellow stable mates?

Good question!

We all know how great the 605 and 875 are. Is it safe to assume that the 705 and 805 are equally as class beating?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you nickers.

We're on the case - should be getting test kit imminently.

But one word of caution. Just because other models in a product range are excellent, it doesn't follow they all will be - not that i'm suggesting there's anything wrong with the big Onks, it's just that we've seen variations in line-ups from every manufacturer and in every product class over the years.

Surely the 705 is at least as good as the 605? Has anybody out there had any experience of it? I'm almost certainly shelling out for the 705 in the next couple of weeks, and I'd like some sort of reassurance! Don't think I'll see anything about it in WHF by then.

Well, the 705 certainly looks like a better buy than the 605 on paper - not only because it's THX certified and has the extra HDMI in!

It looks like the one i'd buy! But, like JP i'd want some reassurance!!

Help!!?

I have the 705 bi-wired to MS 916i's with a MS 905 centre and a couple of Sony sats, stop worrying, go and buy it.

Could always just use the component feed from the sky box, as audio is only output via optical rather than hdmi (although of course this may change in time). Alternatively, hang fire and wait on the updated 605 thats been mentioned that apparently is going to have 3hdmi inputs - thereby leaving you the only question of how important THX is, but saving you a few quid in the process.....just a thought.

Eddiewood,

I've read elsewhere that the TX-SR705 can't process audio from standard DVD players (DTS etc.) via HMDI. Instead, the person stated that they had to use an HDMI cable for the video and a separate coaxial cable for the audio, which seemed a bit daft. As a 705 owner, could you confirm whether this is the case, please?

Thanks in advance.
