Can someone please advise me the way to go as i have been going round in circles, my options are as follows

Monitor audio rs8's with rsfx's run by denon 4310

monitor audio rx6 and r90hd's run by onkyo 608

and finally monitor audio rx6 and r90hd's run by yamaha 1065,1067 or 2065

these are my options as i have been offered good deals after endlessly searching... i have listened to the onkyo608 and yamaha 1067 but not the others also not heard the rs8's only the rsx6's and rx8's... obviously want to get the best i can afford but as funds are limited i cant really up the budget anymore... also if relivant i have pioneer kvl 37, pioneer bdp 51, virgin v plus hd, and ps3 slim...

Any advice more than welcome, really want to make my mind up by the end of the week...

Thanks

If it were me and my money, out of those options I would go for the MA Rx6+r90 with the yamaha 1067 AVR. I personally love Denon AVRs and own an older 3808 but the newer RX6s that I have in my setup are fantastic and from all accounts easier to match to electronics than the older Rs series. That and from hearing many people's experiences with the upper end yammys, I doubt you'll be disappointed with it.

Thanks for the input Tom, so you think the 4310 along with the rs8's is a bad choice then? unfortunately it is the cheaper of my options an what you suggest would happen to be the most expensive of my options lol... on my listening to the onkyo 608 and then 2 wks later the 1067 with the same speakers i could'nt tell as much difference as i would of thought you should i was therefore wondering if i was only paying the extra for things like connectivity and 3d which as you can see from the tv i have i dont need and obviously as i have a ps3 streaming isnt an issue either... The guy thats selling the yamaha tells me that the onkyo 608 is under powerd for the rx6's... i get more confused everytime i do a bit more research, kind of just want to buy something now and enjoy...

If you have a largish room, the 4310 an RS8s will batter the rest!

The RX6 and 1067 are trulely a great pairing, as I have listened to this setup myself. However, the 4310 is the more powerful AVR, so although I have not heard that combination, logic would dictate it should sound better at medium to high volume levels and the RX6 certainly can take the more powerful AVR.

So if your after a truly excellent feature and future proofing set the 1067 is way to go and you can be confident this will sound good, but if your not interested in its future proofing I'm sure the 4310 will sound excellent.

And if you can afford it, with either option the RX6 are definitely worth the extra over the RS6 IMO. I would also suggest you look at the RXFX for the rears, they are superb.

My room is a lounge/diner with my table and chairs at one end and the tv at the other in a kind of L shape so if you were to ignor the part lost to an understairs cupboard it would be ruffly 13' 6" (410cm) x 16' 4" (500cm) so it's not small but not huge and this was my concern with the rs8's if they were a little big for the room... also i have a laminate floor which i dont think will help?

That's about the size of my lounge and the RX6s fill it and then some. I think the RS8s (if they're more like the RX8s) would be a bit of overkill. The 6 looked small compared to 8 in the shop but in my room the RX6s fit nicely and I can't imagine anything larger not looking overly imposing. I get the feeling that MA sized/engineered the RX6 for a British home's lounge whereas the RX8 is perhaps more suited to an American home's lounge.

I think your room is big enough to be honest. Ideally, out of the options you mentioned, I would go with RX6 fronts and the RS or RX6 AV12 package with the Denon 4310. The bigger rears are a lot better than the R90s - I've just changed mine for the Apex and the difference is stunning.

Thanks for the response again Tom, i guess my problem is that there is almost a £400 pound price jump to go the rx route for me an im starting to think maybe it is worth trying the RS8's and if i dont like them i can sell them on and then go get the RX6's in the next sale... as mentioned before the DENON 4310 has to be the better amp to justify it's origional price tag and will surely run the 8's better therefore the RX6's and like i said before i have no need for 3d and have no intention of it in the future and feel i would be paying for this with the yamaha... I know it is different in a demo room but the RX6's felt like they were lacking weight, i appreciate this probably wouldnt be the case in my lounge but i do like my bass ( not sure my neighbours do lol) and worry i will miss out on this with RX6's especially if i move and end up with a bigger lounge...

Thanks for the input Gerradasnails and everybody else, i have decieded to go with the RS8's, RSFX's and the DENON 4310 as i think it was just to good a deal to pass up on... I cant believe i have actually made a decision at last, probably be the wrong one but my thinking is this: if i find the 8's to much i can always sell them on again and go get some RX6's but if i dont try them i will never know and with regards to the amp the more power the better i feel... Thanks again everyone you helped me make up my mind now fingers crossed its all goin blend nicely... I am hopefully picking them up on thursday so if anyones interested i can post my findings after the weekend...

Hey everyone got the kit all installed and so far so good, denon 4310 is alot more complicated than anticipated (things have definately moved on a bit from my teac ref ag-350) but i think i am almost there... Being a slightly paranoid individual i was kind of worried the amp was'nt going to work proprly or have some problem with it as i got such a good deal but i think it is as should be, a little disapointed as the set up mic wasnt in the box but by all accounts you are better off doing this urself (if you can figure it out lol) i have a few points of concern, when the amp is switching between modes ie dts, dolby, true hd i have a very faint click a little like static coming from the left channel, is this normal for hd av amps? And i got a little confused with the speaker setup/assignment... i am running a 5.1 set up with bi-amp to the rs8's but as the assign is the back surround channel have i done the right thing by using the other surround (ie A-surround) for the rears? denon have not made this very clear at all in there instructions as out of all the options for speaker layout mine was'nt really covered in detail? and my concern with this is i dont want to end up with a surround signal being sent to the fronts or vice versa... My other concern is crossover frequencies, i dont really know what to set them to for all speakers including the sub... My sub ( mj accoustics pro 50) is well run in as i have had it for a number of years it has three of its own adjustments on it, phase, gain, hrz upto 240.... the rsfx's are brand new and the rs8's i believe to have had only a few hours play therefore i dont want to risk damaging the speakers by sending in appropraite amount of base? If anyone has the 4310 or rs8's/rsfx's an can help me with this i would very greatful. With regards to the sound, so far on first impressions it is very much an improvement over my previous set up for film, music i feel is maybe let down by not being set up correctly and possibbly the amount of hours play the rs8's have had... on a possitive the denon's sound is so much smoother than the onkyo's and even the yamaha's i listened to when testing, even though that was with the rx's and they are renowned for being smoother than the rs's so i feel this was a very good pairing indeed... Thanks again to all those who helped in my decision making process and as i said before i would really appreciate any help at all in getting this all setup to its full potential....
