Olive Opus 4HD vs. NAS + DAC

Just been reading WHF's review of the Olive music server / ripper. 5 stars

My question - which I suppose is mainly for WHF - is how does it compare to a NAS coupled with a good DAC?

Well as NAS and DAC by itself isn't going to give you anything, you'd need another device in between, such as Sonos or Squeezebox, in which case, in terms of sound quality, it's really just going to be a question of how good a DAC are you talking about?

Yes - of course - I mean the Olive (have edited thread header to avoid confusion)

And, of course, there needs to be something to couple the NAS to the DAC - unless the DAC is in a DLNA compliant amplifier...

I suppose, in terms of comparison I meant for the price point, i.e. NAS + DAC + transport of £2150 (cost as per WHF)...
