Good afternoon all,

I purchased a Phillips 55OLED908 a few months ago and since day one I've never been completely happy with the picture/colouring. I've tried umpteen settings to try and make it look better but I've yet to find a happy balance, what really bugs me about the TV is that it changes colour tone several times just watching the same programme. I don;t think there is any way to turn off the Ai processing as that to me is one of the main problems as it looks to me like its analysing the picture duringh whatever is playing and adjusting the colour gamut and brightness constantly, I watched a 45 minute programme last night and lost count at 20 changes of colour tone/balance during. The whites are too white, the red's are blood red and not bright red, film maker mode is too dark, Dolby vision bright is too bright, has anyone got a Phlips OLED and point me as to what I need to change in the settings to calm things down and make the picture look as comparable to my other non OLED Philips TV's? I've bought 5 Philips TV's over the years as I love the ambilight but this OLED is seriously the worst of the bunch!

I had a Philips 65 707 OLED TV I bought from Currys I could never get a picture I was happy with! I ended up getting a high end Samsung QD-OLED TV when the price came right down to a third of its original price and sold the Philips for £550 on Facebook, I only paid £1000 for it. The Samsung was originally £3300 and I paid £1200.

That got me out of that mess.

:ROFLMAO: If only I could do the same but my g/f wouldn't be too happy with me wasting even more money on tech

My parents have still got the 47 inch 1080p LCD hand me down that I bought about 12 years ago and the picture on that is outstanding, Philips have gone backwards in going forwards!

I know what you mean. I had a Philips LCD from years ago and it was amazing too. You could try getting it calibrated, but that would probably set you back another £250!

You could try filmmaker mode, that should be the most balanced.
I have but it just looked far too dark to me. It's just frustrating as there's times where the picture is almost there then I go into the settings to up the brightness or whatever but several of the option's are greyed out and I can't change them.

I've recently bought an LG OLED pc monitor too and I cant get away with the colour on that either, it's either showing white as too yellowy or it's burn your retina bright white, don't get me started on the red's! :devilish::ROFLMAO:

I know what you mean same here with filmmaker mode! Standard was like too bright. Then I started to get strange things happening in the picture with the colours too, every time I was playing with the picture settings.

I am surprised you can’t get a good colour on the LG OLED monitor, I used standard mode when I had a LG OLED TV.

If I was you I would return the monitor and get a refund and sell the Philips OLED (they make good money still) and buy a new OLED 55-inch TV, something like the LG 55C4 for £999 and buy a cheap monitor. What do you use the monitor for anyway?

I would suggest updating the firmware first if you haven't already. Failing that, have you considered asking supplier for a replacement on the proviso that it is not fit for purpose. I wish you luck getting this resolved.

Unfortunately I bought the monitor second-hand on Ebay, I use it solely for playing games and as I've just bought a sim rig I wanted something larger than my old 34" so went for the 39" OLED. Maybe I've just got too used to the colour balance of an LCD screen with both monitor and TV and expected OLED to be just that bit better with resolution and colour etc, I think my only option ATM is to do a factory reset, make sure they are running the latest firmware (I'm more than sure they are) and start afresh with the settings.

As a side note, why have tech things got to be so much more complicated than they used to be? You would think the extra knowhow tech firms have amassed over the years that they would make things easier for the end user but wether it's a new car or new TV I just find them worse than the previous generation. Or is it that I'm now 51 and starting to show my age?:rolleyes::LOL:

Software should be all up to date but I think a full reset will be best so I can start afresh. I only use a Firecube with the TV and have Virgin 250mb. The odd time I've watched the TV direct I've found the colour pallette exactly the same, whites searingly bright and red's more wine coloured than cherryish, if that makes sense?

I really don't know what I expected of OLED, maybe this is how its meant to be and I was just expecting the same as my previous LCD's just all round brighter and clearer but I'm just not convinced OLED is the step forward it promised.

Check the TV settings for energy saving if its off it will give you a poor picture on both your TV and monitor . I had a LCD too and I can assure you OLED is vey much better.

I use a Apple TV streamer and the picture on that is much better !
so your internet is more than capable.
take your time and go through the TV settings there is a huge amount there compared to when you was 20 🤓 years old

Good luck young man 😁

I like the young man bit! :giggle:

I got called "oldhead" the other day on a Youtube comment, didn't like that one bit I'll be honest. When I typed out that I was 51 in a reply above I actually sat back and thought to myself "Damn, I'm 51, that's all grown up isn't it?". I've never had to grow up as I've never had kid's and I owned my own business for 20 odd years so was never accountable to anyone, sold up and retired late 40's so have been going through a strange period of realisation with regards age etc....

Sorry for the waffle, happens now and again!
