OLED issues.....

Good afternoon all,

I purchased a Phillips 55OLED908 a few months ago and since day one I've never been completely happy with the picture/colouring. I've tried umpteen settings to try and make it look better but I've yet to find a happy balance, what really bugs me about the TV is that it changes colour tone several times just watching the same programme. I don;t think there is any way to turn off the Ai processing as that to me is one of the main problems as it looks to me like its analysing the picture duringh whatever is playing and adjusting the colour gamut and brightness constantly, I watched a 45 minute programme last night and lost count at 20 changes of colour tone/balance during. The whites are too white, the red's are blood red and not bright red, film maker mode is too dark, Dolby vision bright is too bright, has anyone got a Phlips OLED and point me as to what I need to change in the settings to calm things down and make the picture look as comparable to my other non OLED Philips TV's? I've bought 5 Philips TV's over the years as I love the ambilight but this OLED is seriously the worst of the bunch!

I had a Philips 65 707 OLED TV I bought from Currys I could never get a picture I was happy with! I ended up getting a high end Samsung QD-OLED TV when the price came right down to a third of its original price and sold the Philips for £550 on Facebook, I only paid £1000 for it. The Samsung was originally £3300 and I paid £1200.

That got me out of that mess.

My parents have still got the 47 inch 1080p LCD hand me down that I bought about 12 years ago and the picture on that is outstanding, Philips have gone backwards in going forwards!

I know what you mean. I had a Philips LCD from years ago and it was amazing too. You could try getting it calibrated, but that would probably set you back another £250!

You could try filmmaker mode, that should be the most balanced.

I have but it just looked far too dark to me. It's just frustrating as there's times where the picture is almost there then I go into the settings to up the brightness or whatever but several of the option's are greyed out and I can't change them.

I've recently bought an LG OLED pc monitor too and I cant get away with the colour on that either, it's either showing white as too yellowy or it's burn your retina bright white, don't get me started on the red's!

I know what you mean same here with filmmaker mode! Standard was like too bright. Then I started to get strange things happening in the picture with the colours too, every time I was playing with the picture settings.

I am surprised you can’t get a good colour on the LG OLED monitor, I used standard mode when I had a LG OLED TV.

If I was you I would return the monitor and get a refund and sell the Philips OLED (they make good money still) and buy a new OLED 55-inch TV, something like the LG 55C4 for £999 and buy a cheap monitor. What do you use the monitor for anyway?

have you updated the software ? or tried a full reset ? are you using a streamer or direct on the tv what is your internet connection speed is it consistent ? few things to check if I was you .
