noobs querry much help needed

hey this is probably realy stupid but is there a way i could put my marantz pm5003 through a power amp to make it possible to drive bigger speakers ? if this is stpuid please feel fre to laugh / explain why .

Not an expert on this amp but checked the specs & it looks like it has preamp outs so you can hook it up to a power amp.

Probably best to use the pm5003 as a pre-amp/control unit only with a power amp driving the speakers.

Not sure what power amp to go for but get a demo before spending!

You could then get a pre-amp later to replace the pm5003 for a further upgrade if you wanted.

This stirred my curiosity as I'd been thinking along similar lines a good while ago with my 6003 where I found I couldn't as it doesn't have pre-outs. Just checked the spec on Marantz's web site and nor does the 5003.

Your right, checked again, no pre outs.

The What Hi Fi specs say otherwise – I should have checked further.

No offence against WHF but I only check the manufacturer's specs.

I did check their review a while after posting and thought that's where you probably got them from! lol
